Color meditations
The energy of colors

In the yogic tradition, the colors in clothing have a specific meaning and are consciously used in special occasions. Indian yogis like the bright orange in reference to sun, the spiritual lotus pink for enlightened masters, sattvique pure white but also plain black as worn by certain shivaiste groups. In Tibet, colors are earthier, the beautiful dark red, yellow or saffron colors of the Tibetan monks cloaks, inspire peacefulness and cheerful sharing of holiness.
Also western traditions give us inspiration, the earthy brown monk cloaks, the bright red cardinal robes, the pure and austere association of black and white found in nuns dresses gives us hints, that also in our traditions wearing specific colors is more than a fashion thing. Breath of Fire offers you a range of colors, chosen to enhance your active and receptive state of being. To experience the connection to the colors in their specificity, we like to propose you simple yoga or meditation exercises.



 Atlanticblue


Atlantic-blue allows you to connect to the spirit of water, providing life on earth. The ocean, lakes and river cover 70 % of our planet earth, our body is made out of 65 to 70% water. We are totally connected to the circuit of water and rely on it. Realize how precious water is, and give a thought, how you can cherish this element today!

Wearing blue
Atlantic-blue will connect you to your subconsciousness, to the ocean of your inner pictures, dreams, visions and the whole world of sensations and emotions related to them.
Nidra Yoga, the yoga of sleep and dreams provides the door to enter this inner space.

Exercise - Nidra Yoga
Lie down on your back, cover yourself, and put on a quite relaxing music if you wish. Relax consciously every part of your body starting from the feet, finishing with your head.
Now concentrate on your eyes, their volume.
Relax them completely as well as you relax your brain.
Be conscious, that every thought you’ll produce will crisp your eyes slightly, when you start following the thought. So stay focused on the relaxed eye muscles.
Where your eyes are located, you will now discover your Shidakasha, your inner space that is huge, never-ending, bright.
Imagine yourself to slip into this space like a bird, flying freely above the blue ocean with its incessant waves, feel the warmth of the sun on your wings.
Let yourself continue a few minutes. Enjoy this moment of peace. Than inspire profoundly, get yourself back into your physical body in stretching like a cat and rise up slowly.

Tibetan red


Dark red connects you to the pulse of your heart leading you every day through life. Muladhara chakra, the energy vortex on the bottom of your spine connects you to the earth and is visualized in full deep red. Become conscious about the energy of earth, spinning around and around, travelling 40 000 km/h without effort through universe. Connect to this energy today and keep up what Buddhist call « joyful effort ».
 
Wearing Tibetan red
inspires peacefulness and cheerful sharing of holiness. The Dalai Lama with his humor, patience and endless work for the oppressed Tibetan nation is an imposing example for all of us in matter of steady engagement on human level. Here you will find a great exercise to enter the state of joyful effort using connectedness through earth.

Exercice

Stretch out on your back. Become conscious about the lower back; connect it completely to the earth energy. Start lifting legs alternatively, inhale powerfully while lifting up one leg to 90 degrees, exhale as you bring it down, change leg, inhale up, exhale down… Get yourself into a smooth rhythm. Imagine you will walk up a mountain for the next 3 hours. How will you organize your energies? Experience joyful effort, don’t give up to quick, keep up at least 3 minutes, and overcome your moments over boredom or tiredness. With a rhythmic music things will be easier. If you need to protect your back, put your hands flat down under your bottom. Build up to 7 or 11 minutes. To finish, relax for a couple of minutes, listen to the beat of your precious heart.
 



Pure white


Pure white allows you to connect to ether, to the bright light related to the Divine. Often we forget about the gift of life, about our « self », our soul, which is the expression of our personal capacity of unconditional love. Allow your Self to Be today, to enjoy life in its simple expressions, just connect to the beauty surrounding you, when you start to open your eyes and your heart to it.

Wearing Pure white will give you the feeling of purity and positive neutrality. Wearing white enhances the extension of the Aura. Any doubt about it? Dress up in white and go on a Saturday morning downtown walk, you will certainly feel and be looked at differently than in your grey jumper! Pure white is often worn by certain spiritual communities in order to give an identity to the inner state of purity and egolessness searched for.

Exercice
Here is a beautiful exercise to enhance your aura: Sit down comfortable in easy pose or on a chair, spine is straight. Rise up your both arms to a 60-degree angle. Fingers are curled down (do not make fists) thumb is stuck out. Hold the position during 1-3 minutes while concentrating on third eye. Your breath should be long and even. For those who know the technique of breath of fire or Kapalbhati, practice this pranayam !
At the end, join tips of thumbs, inhale deeply, hold the breath. Than open your hands, draw a big circle around you until fingertips will join the earth. Just stay some instants in the consciousness of your own pure beauty, shining from your heart.



Ivory white


When you look into the sky you’ll find pure white clouds, but when you look on earth, you will find white in all its variations. Ivory white connects you to life energy expressed in your down-to-earth state of being. Allow yourself today to be the way you are and to accept yourself with all your facets.

Wearing ivory white
, you should become conscious that perfection is enhanced through imperfection, accept that nobody and nothing is perfect. We are all on our path, more or less advanced in our spiritual growth and not to be judged for what and who we are.

Exercice
Here is a simple exercise to obtain a neutral state of mind, allowing you discernment instead of judgment through stimulation of neutral energy in your central Nadi, your Sushumna.
Sit down comfortable in easy pose or on a chair, spine is straight. Hands are on your knees. Start rocking back and forth with a smooth pace, indicating the movement of your spine through the back and forward inclination of your hips. Breath in, when you are rocking forward, breath out when you rock backwards. Feel your spine as a bright, vibrant energy channel, be kind with your back,- undo tensions through soft movements. While you warm up, you can accelerate the rhythm. Put on some music to encourage yourself. Keep up 3 minutes or even 7. Then inhale powerfully, hold the position, pull up your pelvic muscles, feel energy rising up through your spine, keep as long as you can and relax.




Saffron


Saffron connects you the golden light of the rising sun. In some traditions, we can read about the golden body, an egg shaped body around our physical body. It’s a beautiful image for the expression of our vitality, our sun energy. Become conscious today about your vitality. When every moment, every situation is looked at with new eyes, boredom and discouragement will just fade away.

Wearing

Wearing saffron makes you feel great, sunny, with warm glow around you. It’s the color of Surya, of the sun. To stimulate your Surya energy, here is a very simple but very efficient exercise which can be to be practiced by everyone.

Exercise
Sit down comfortable in easy pose or on a chair, spine is straight. Press your left index against your left side of the nose in order to block the left nostril. Now you will start to breathe quietly through the right nostril, stimulating the Surya Nadi. Count 24 inhales and exhales. Than relax quietly and listen to your body. You will specially enjoy this exercise, while sitting in rising sun. Remember this moment when you are feeling grey and stuck in a dull place.


Mocca


Brown connects you the nurturing soils of Mother Earth, Patcha Mama, as the Inkas said. Rich soils are what we need to cultivate our daily food. Here we are concerned with matter, with healing and maintaining forces on physical level. It is the connection to cycles as seasons, day and night, of birth and decay. Be conscious about the cycles your in today, what about the moon, what’s special about the season?

Wearing brown is bringing you into your body, it’ll pull you down if you fly too high, it’ll make you humble if your ego wants to show up and make you believe, that materiel stuff is for other, not for you. It simply gives you the feeling on being well covered and connected to nature in its elementary expression.

Exercise
Go outdoors, whatever the weather might be and try this walking meditation with the simple Mantra Saa Taa Naa Maa (birth, life, death, reincarnation).
Each of your hands will do the following movement: join thumb and index, say Saa, join thumb and middle finger, say Taa, join thumb and ring finger, say Naa, join thumb and little finger, say Maa, on each move with your finger, you’ll do one step, walk steadily and concentrated on your mantra and the coordinated moves between fingers and feet during 5 minutes, continue walking normally 3 minutes,
take fully consciousness that you walk on earth, start again the walking meditation keep up the rhythm as long as you wish.




Black


Afraid of the unknown? Welcome to black! Black sucks every color in and connects us with our deep existential fears. Where do we come from, where do we go to? The sky at night is black but it shows us billions of stars. There is the Unknown attracting us to be explored, to go above our limits. Change one of your habits today; take another way to work, sleep on your balcony, try out a fruit you don’t know, and realize how quick we get limited in our perceptions.

Wearing black is special. Always related with an elegant flair, you will feel more artistic, more determined, stronger…You will need these qualities to explore the unknown sides of yourself, your shadow sides, your hidden self with its fears and compulsive behaviors.

Exercice
To learn how to confront true emptiness, to experience this state of being and to tame your most intimate fears, try this exercise 1
Sit down comfortable in easy pose or on a chair, spine is straight. Inhale deep, exhale completely, no air is kept in your lungs.
Then start to rock back and forwards with your hips while keeping air out as long as you can.
Trigger this uncomfortable feeling of being empty, soon « dead ». If you can’t hold out anymore, hold in your movement, breathe in, out and repeat.
Do this exercise for at least 7 minutes if you want to master better your personal fears.
